{Wallpaper Woes Part Duex}

My sister Whitney came over this weekend to help in our wallpaper removal quest. Yay Whitney! It was so great to have an extra set of hands and we appreciated all the help. Scott and I finally came up with a system that accelerated our progress. We first scrap all of the paint off and then try to remove the wallpaper. Scraping paint is as tedious as it sounds, but strangely satisfying. To quote Whitney, "it is like pulling off a sunburn". We were able to get all of the paint off on Saturday and quite a bit of wallpaper. It is such a messy job. We have already filled up 4 garbage bags full of wallpaper and paint debris. The room smells like wet dog and there are bits of paper everywhere; downstairs, in the washing machine, on the bed. We still need to finish taking off the paper, remove all the glue, patch the walls and prime before we get to paint.
For those who mourn the loss of the bunny paper please rest assured that there is wallpaper under every layer of paint in every room upstairs. We aren't removing anymore. It will rest there undisturbed until the next crazy homeowner decides to tackle it.

{Another Storm}

When I was driving to work today it was clear skies, but about 10 minutes after I got here this storm hit. It didn't last as long as predicted but it was pretty fierce all the same. I see the coolest storms at work. It must have to do with being so high east and watching them roll in. Today would have been a good day for staying in bed and reading a book, but instead I worked on a wedding album. Sweet.

{Wallpaper Woes}

Why or why did I ever think it would be a good idea to remove painted wallpaper? It seemed like a good idea when we bought the house, but has since proved to be painstakingly tedious. We remove about a 2' square section ever hour or so. We are feeling extremely lazy in this cold weather and only work about a couple of hours a week at best. Scott likes to remind me this was all my idea. We are projecting to be done sometime late summer :) Notice the cute bunny wallpaper underneath. It is original to the house and I almost feel bad destroying it. Too late now!

{Winter Walk}

One of the best things about our house is our proximity to Murray Park. We are literally one block away. This summer and fall we were so busy working on the house that we didn't really take advantage of it. Yesterday though, after a huge snow storm, the sun came out and it seemed like a perfect time to take a walk. It was so beautiful! After weeks of the sky, road and mountains being the same dull gray color there was finally some life in the sky. I don't really have great winter gear (not a skier) so I got a little cold, but it was worth it. Here are some pictures from our late afternoon walk.

There is an exercise course. How convenient.

Scott walking away from me. He loves it when I bring my camera.

The view of Murray Park and the new hospital from the end of our street.

The abandoned Superette across from the Park. I think it would make a great studio.

{Marette}

Here are some pictures I took of my sister Marette last summer. She never picked any out so I kind of forgot about them until now. I'm so glad I came across the file again because she looks so cute! These were two of my favorites but there were so many I loved that I will be posting more later. Love you Marette!

{Winter Blues}

I have a serious case of the winter blues. I have been feeling completely bland and blah. In case anyone else has been experiencing the winter blahs as well I'm posting two songs that always put me in a good mood. The other day I remembered that Scott and I now own a house and can play our music as loud as we want. It was therapeutic to listen to these with the volume cranked up.
Oh, sorry about the video quality. I can't figure out how to just post songs on the blog.

{My First Christmas}

Here is my first ornament. When I was little I loved putting it on the tree myself. I'm so glad it has held up after all of these years. Now I love finding where it was placed on my parent's tree.
