{Bad News, Good News}

So, the bad news is that it is snowing. It is May for goodness sakes! I would complain more, but I know that you all feel my pain.

The good news is that we just had a meeting with our owners and they aren't closing the store down completely. They are going to be shutting down the retail space and the lab, but keep the photography business. This is so different from what we have been told and what I have been expecting. What a relief! The photographers will be switching over to being contract in June and I think they are looking for a really small retail space. I am really happy with this turn of events. It means I can still start my own business (yay!), but keep a relationship with Silver Pelican. I think this will be so much better for customers, employees, owners and everyone else involved. I was so worried about how it would all work out if it ended so abruptly. I'm still moving forward with my business and I think I decided on Green Apple. I know that Red Poppy was more loved, but Green Apple seemed to work a little better . If I ever open a design company I will call it Red Poppy (or maybe my first child).

This news has taken a huge weight off of my shoulders. I think it makes much more sense and I feel this was the push I needed to get my own business started. I had always been so worried before about how I would start my own company up, how we could afford it, etc. Now that Scott and I have started working towards it, we are really excited about our new possibilities. We have been so stressed this last week and it is nice to know that I might not need to get a paper route after all!

Thanks again for all of your support. I will keep you posted on all the new information. Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law Tara, I have all of the information I need to get my business license, tax ID, and other businessy stuff. There is so much to do, but things are starting to come together. Logan also met the general manager of Williams and Sonoma and so, if needed, there might be a part-time job for me there as well.

Just talked to Logan, congrats girl. I think this sounds like such a good thing. It's great that it gave you the push you needed to start your own business. Now you can have the best of both worlds. You should do what Lindsey Hale does and submit your orders online so I can see you and Logan more, I just love the two of you!

Oh and I am glad that you found a name that suits you! (I think you will have so much fun getting all this started and designed) Yay for a whole new journey!

Come on, Red Poppies are bright and happy and not a run of the mill flower. Green Apples, well not everyone likes a tart/sour apples. Pretty color but not a happy thought!

Yahoo Lindsey...that is great news. I am so glad that you are happy about everything. Like it was already said-the best of both worlds. Keep us updated.

I like how green apple rolls off the tounge! Red Poppy...just not my fav. I think lifeinredshoes is partial to red poppy becaue it has RED in the title! hehe!

I'm so happy things worked out! :) And I'm especially glad you didn't have to get a paper route! Andrew and I had one for 6 months before we got married to pay off my ring and have money saved up. It was well worth it to start off on the right foot, but it was soooo hard!

And I ditto Caitlin- I just think you are the greatest, neatest, coolest gal ever!

P.S. How do you know Caitlin? She and I used to be in the same home ward! Small world! :)

I feel relief for you! I am happy that this is the direction that they are going. It is too bad that they didn't say that from the beginnnig. It would have been a whole lot less stress for you. I can't wait to see all the cool stuff you are going to come up with. Love you!

YAY YAY YAY!!! Sounds like an ideal situation. And, i don't necessarily think all the stress of the week was bad because it pushed you in the direction you've always wanted to go in- your own business! I think Green Apple is a perfect name and you will be able to do lots of fun things with it. Congrats!

Hey, one of my best friends is getting married on the 17th. So we could do Saturday the 10th or the 24th. Weekends are better than weekday for us, since we both have boring 8-5 jobs. Anyway, I am super excited about Green Apple Photography! Your ideas sound really great.
